Dating for Less

Dating for Less

by Dalia Benitez Summers

In today's tough economic times, starting to date again might seem scary. After all, you want to give a good impression even though your budget is tight. In these situations it is best to find creative solutions that involve places and things to do that are less expensive than the standard restaurant or live concert.

Below are a few examples that we thought could help:

Do something together - Sitting in front of one another is not always the best arrangement. There is a lot to be said about mutual experiences. So go online and look for outdoor activities. Go for a walk out of town or in a park or play a sport together.

Pack a Picnic - Wining and dining doesn't have to break the banknot if you pack a picnic lunch. You can find plenty of wonderful wines for well under $10. Add a few sandwiches, cheese, fruit, cookies (and don't forget the blanket!), and you've got an impressive spread.

Cook In? Now you're cookin' - Women love a man who can cook. Men love a woman who can cook. Maybe you both enjoy it and make a meal together. It's all good. Nothing's more inviting than being invited over for a home-cooked meal. Ask your date to bring the beer or vino and you've got a hot date cookin'.

Visit the sea shore - There are so many beautiful places you can enjoy for free. If you live near the sea or the ocean or even a lake - take your partner on a long afternoon walk. The water and wind are likely to create a pleasant atmosphere, not to say romantic.

Visit Galleries - Art galleries in most cities are free. If you and your partner enjoy arts, visiting a gallery or doing a gallery tour is an excellent low cost solution for a fun experience together. All you need to do is pick up the local newspaper and find gallery listings. Then, prepare your rout and even better - print some background material about the artists you are about to see.

You don't have to worry about money when you're dating. The main idea is to find nice activities that you can do together so that you can get to know one another. Good luck!
