Dating Your Mates Ex - Is It Fair Game?

There are many risky elements that will always be associated when dating your friends ex. Whether it's the right thing to do or not, someone is going to get hurt, and tough decisions will need to be made.

Coming between two people that share a mutual attraction is no easy task. Even if they happen to be your closest friend and the person with whom you were once intimate with.



There will always be debate as to whether this is considered an act of betrayal, or simply part and parcel of two people moving on. Put yourself in your friends situation - how would you like to be treated in a reverse situation. If there has been some chemistry building between the ex and friend for a while, a few months of staying at arms length is probably - the right thing to do!



Can you imagine showing up to a friends 30th birthday party and seeing your best mate of 10 years all coupled up with the person who you shared such intimate times with, the person who you talk about your deepest secrets with, the person who you quite possibly considered spending the rest of your life with. To witness such a display will see you have to make further choices as to who you socialize with, and places you may need to avoid frequenting.



Let' say in an unlikely event that the three of you decide to try and remain friends through this new and somewhat unusual situation, will your ex be tempted to fall back into the old security zone, and come running to you in times of trouble - will your ex be able to completely cut and run while ever you are in the picture?



To try and uphold friendships by associating ex lovers into the equation is something only a rare few could ever hope to achieve. Everyone involved will need to except change whether it be good or bad.



So by approaching this tricky terrain in a tactful and upfront manner, you still have a good chance of maintaining friendships that otherwise would be in jeopardy if you dealt with such an important issue in an underhanded manner.



Be cautious if you become involved in a 3 way love tussle, listen to that little voice in your head before you act in a way that doesn't try to minimize the impending damage.
