Online Dating: How Can You Know Who's Real?

Because of innovations in communication and the convenience of the internet, a lot of new things are possible, like aiding people from different parts of the world in searching for a life partner. A good number of the relationships that have started at online dating have ended up in successful marriages. These success stories have meant happy people and complete lives. While you have an increased ability to find a partner through online dating, there are potential dangers associated with this method, too. Some of the stories you read will point out terrible situations faced when meeting face to face for the first time.

You can avoid being a victim of an online dating calamity by educating yourself with the warning signs that the relationship is going to go sour, or the face to face date is not going to be good. When you realize the red flags early in the process, you can avoid being one of the internet dating disaster stories. You need to know the following online dating tips before you try online dating for the first time.

First and foremost, never give anyone you met through online dating any money! Regardless of how long you have been talking to this person or how tragic his or her story happens to be, do not fall into this trap and shell out your cash. This is one of the most obvious signs that you are getting scammed- people you really don't know shouldn't be asking you for money when they have close friends and family members who could lend aid.

Another good indicator of a potential scam would be the speed with which your prospect tried to initiate personal contact, for example telephone calls or private emails. Some people aren't particularly comfortable or good with emails and written communication, so this isn't always an indication that there's something awry, but it can be so you need to be careful. Why? An online dating scam artist isn't looking for a lifelong partner, they are looking for someone to dupe in one way or another. The quicker they reach you on a personal level, the faster they can make you their next victim.

You can also tell a scammer by the picture in their profile and those that they send to you. If the photo looks like it was cut and scanned from some magazine, then the person is most likely a scammer. There are also some who actually steal photos of real men and women. If the photo is too perfect, then it's probably stolen from someone else.

Another good indication that you are going to fall victim to a scam is the potential partner's requests for information. It isn't out of the ordinary for a person to ask for increasingly personal information as you spend more time in the online dating realm together. If the person you are corresponding with asks you for information that they themselves aren't willing to offer in return, then you should back off- this person is likely trying to dupe you.

Finally, one of the most important online dating tips is to watch out for people who are inconsistent in their stories and messages. Scammers often communicate with a lot of people at the same time. As such, they are bound to forget which stories or identities they used for which potential victims.
